Celebrate 15 Years in the Circle of Life with Squigs’ Anniversary Portrait of The Lion King

Disney’s landmark Broadway musical The Lion King is getting set to mark its 15-year anniversary on the Great White Way. Julie Taymor's groundbreaking production began performances in October 1997, and the show has gone on to become the fifth longest-running show in Broadway history as well as the highest grossing Broadway show of all time. Broadway.com resident artist Justin "Squigs" Robertson revisited Pride Rock (by way of the Minskoff Theatre) to wish Simba, Zazu, Rafiki and the rest of the gang a very happy birthday. In this gorgeous portrait, Squigs captures current stars (clockwise from top) Patrick R. Brown as Scar, Alton Fitzgerald White as Mufasa, Chantel Riley as Nala, Jeff Binder as Zazu,Tshidi Manye as Rafiki, Andile Gumbi as Simba, Fred Berman as Timon and Ben Jeffrey as Pumbaa.
